Every student in 7 and 8 grade is required to take a 6 week exploratory class for I.T.
7th Grade Industrial Technology
In 7th grade I.T., students learn how to draw and use tools for mechanical drafting. In the first two weeks, students are tested on basic measuring and understanding fractions. Students are then required to make one dimensional, two dimensional, and three dimensional drawings. During the final week of class, students are required to make a three dimensional drawing of a tool box, which they will build in 8th grade I.T. Students will also be require to download Autocad 360 on their Ipad and use it daily for each one of their drawings.
8th Grade Industrial Technology
In 8th grade I.T., student learn basic automotive principles, career cruising, and hand tool woodworking skills. The first two weeks of this class, students will learn basic automotive skills such as how to make a 21 point inspection, how to change oil, and how to change a tire. Students are tested on these basic automotive principles at the end of the two weeks. The third and fourth weeks students take career cruising. This program help's students make career decisions, explore possible post secondary education, and makes a class schedule for high school. The last two weeks of class, students learn basic hand tool woodworking skills and safety. Using these skills, students will make a small tool box.
Junior High Classroom Expectations
For the safety of each student, their are expectations that must be followed in I.T. course. Each student must read the following classroom expectations sheet. They must then have their parents sign it and return to class for a grade.
